Vitreous Enamel Paint Splat Panels on Giant Oak Benches

January 2009

The £4m phase one public realm work at RiversideOne feature Trico`s 'Paint Splat' Panels which have been incorporated into the design of a number of large Oak Benches.

Trico, who collaborated with United Creatives of Manchester, produced a number of vitreous enamel screen printed panels for the £4m RiversideOne development in the North East of England which is being funded by English Partnerships & One NorthEast.

The RiversideOne development in the Middlehaven area features new residential, leisure, education and commercial facilities. It is currently the largest planned zero carbon development in the UK.

London Underground Heritage Plaques

20 June 2008

London Underground, responsible for 57 listed stations across the network, is keen to better inform the public about the nature and extent of its built heritage and has embarked on a programme of fitting specially designed, individually worded information signs.

Trico have provided Vitreous Enamel Signage and panels that have been used throughout the UK rail network since the business formed in the 1930`s.

We are of course delighted to partner London Underground (LU) and produce the “Heritage Plaques” which feature at twenty-three stations on the LU network including Ruislip, Bethnal Green, Ealing Common and Park Royal.

The design of the plaque, as well as the idea behind the scheme, has been discussed with English Heritage as part of regular liaison meetings, and they are very supportive of the scheme. LU has specifically decided not to mimic English Heritages ‘Blue Plaque’ scheme but has, instead, developed a shape and design of plaque that on one hand forms a part of the ‘language’ of London Undergrounds existing signs schemes but that has, on the other hand, real echoes of the company’s own heritage in that the ‘tombstone’ shape was, during the pre-Second World War period, in common use.

Titan Outdoor

3 Jan 2007

Major media owner Titan Outdoor has placed a large order with Trico VE Ltd (Signage Division) based in the West Midlands for 15,000 vitreous enamelled nameplates to go on every one of its UK billboards and advertising hoardings.  The Trico-made signs in three sizes for Titan Outdoor are already replacing the ones they made earlier for Maiden Outdoor. Trico VE won the new order because they could guarantee high quality services and deliver to Titan’s demanding 15-week schedule.

Titan chose to continue using the vitreous enamel signs due to their durability and long life in all weathers and outdoor conditions.  The evidence is clear to see.  Maiden’s signs are some 30 years old and are still as good as new. Even graffiti spray wipes off vitreous enamel leaving it unmarked.  As before the new Titan signs will see advertising of all types as temporary advertising displays change above Titan’s permanent enamel signs.

Titan’s UK Company, Titan Outdoor Advertising Ltd. ( www.titanoutdoor.co.uk ) is the newest addition to Titan Worldwide. Founded in the USA in 2001, Titan recently acquired Maiden Outdoor which had been operating independently in the UK outdoor market for 81 years.  Titan took over operations in May 2006 and is proceeding to make a big mark on the UK media landscape.
