The Vitreous Enamelling Process

Numbered steps are described below.

1. After panel formation all metal surface impurities are cleaned off  in a degreaser bath. 
   
2. An acid bath is used to etch the metal.
   
3. After rinsing and neutralizing a ground coat is applied to the metal .
   
4. Firing the ground coat at 830 degrees Celsius envelopes the metal in glass.
   
5. A cover coat spray is applied.
   
6. Firing at 830 degrees Celsius approx. develops the full lustre colour of the cover coat.
   For additional colours steps 5 and 6 are repeated.
